As a full, partial or fragile-only service, with materials supplied and everything labelled by room, usually the day before your move. This matters more in the older riverside cottages, where fragile items and tight access carry more risk.
Four generations of the Strank family have moved Kent households since 1941, and the business is still family run today. The same trained team handles your move from survey to delivery, with no job handed to a subcontractor on the day.
On credentials: Stranks holds full British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, including the BAR Advanced Payment scheme, and is certified to BS EN 12522, the British Standard for furniture removal services for private individuals. BS EN 12522 audits process, training and vehicles, and few independent Kent removers carry it. We are also Checkatrade certified and a member of the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman scheme, with a 9.7 out of 10 rating across 380 verified reviews.
We are based in Ashford, not Aylesford. That is deliberately honest: you get a full-depot operation a short run down the M20, not a one-van outfit.
Aylesford is an old Medway village, and access is the first thing we plan, not the last.
The medieval bridge over the Medway in the old village is narrow, weight-restricted and traffic-light controlled, and a full-size removal pantechnicon often cannot use it. Where a property sits on the far side, we route the vehicle in via the newer roads and the A20 or M20 rather than risk the old bridge, and we work that route out at the survey.
The old village around the High Street and the Friars slopes down to the river, with narrow lanes, tight period cottages and very limited roadside space. These older homes bring low doorways, winding staircases and beams, so pieces are carried by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to get them out cleanly.
The Kings Hill side and the newer estates around Larkfield and Ditton are far more straightforward for a large vehicle, though estate roads and permit parking sometimes need checking first, which we handle before the day.
We settle the vehicle, route, crew and parking plan at survey stage, so the access is worked out before moving day rather than on it.
Aylesford is part of the wider Maidstone area we cover, and most moves here connect to it. See our main Maidstone removals page for the town itself. We also cover the surrounding villages including Larkfield, Ditton, East Malling, West Malling, and Barming from the same depot.
Often not. The old bridge over the Medway is narrow, weight-restricted and traffic-light controlled, so a full-size pantechnicon usually cannot use it. Where your property is on the far side, we route the vehicle in via the newer roads and the A20 or M20 and plan the approach at the survey, so there are no problems on the day.
It can be. The High Street slopes to the river and the lanes near the Friars are narrow with limited roadside space. We confirm the parking position and, where needed, arrange permits or an alternative loading point during the survey rather than leaving it to the morning.
Yes. We serve the older streets around the Friars and the Kings Hill estate to the west, and can handle a move that involves both. The two sides load very differently, so we plan the vehicle and access for each at the survey.
Aylesford is around 20 miles from our Wotton Trading Estate depot, roughly 30 minutes via the M20 depending on traffic. We plan an early depot departure so the crew arrives at the agreed time and the day runs to a clear timetable.
Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. We do not publish fixed prices because they rarely reflect the real job. Get a free quote and we will come back with clear, itemised pricing.
As early as you can. We are often booked up, particularly on end-of-month and Friday dates, so the sooner you are in touch the more likely we can hold your preferred day. If your date is flexible, mid-week and mid-month slots are easier to secure.
