As a full, partial or fragile-only service, with materials supplied and everything labelled by room, usually the day before your move. This matters more in Marden’s period and listed properties, where fragile items and awkward access carry more risk.
Four generations of the Strank family have moved Kent households since 1941, and the business is still family run today. The same trained team handles your move from survey to delivery, with no job handed to a subcontractor on the day. Marden is around 13 miles from our Ashford depot, so this is regular, familiar work for our crews, and the larger period homes the village is known for are well within our capacity.
On credentials: Stranks holds full British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, including the BAR Advanced Payment scheme, and is certified to BS EN 12522, the British Standard for furniture removal services for private individuals. BS EN 12522 audits process, training and vehicles, and few independent Kent removers carry it. We are also Checkatrade certified and a member of the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman scheme, with a 9.7 out of 10 rating across 380 verified reviews.
We are based in Ashford, not Marden. That is deliberately honest: you get a full-depot operation coming to you, not a one-van outfit.
Marden is a large village in the Weald of Kent, at the heart of old hop and orchard country, and that rural character shapes almost every move here.
The farmhouses and homes out on the lanes often sit at the end of long orchard or farm driveways, sometimes unmade and narrow, where a full-size pantechnicon cannot get to the door. Where that is the case we confirm a turning point or run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van, worked out at the survey rather than discovered on the day.
The oast conversions the area is known for have their own quirks: round kiln rooms, curved walls and steep, awkward internal stairs that take planning to move large furniture through. We look at these at the survey so the crew arrives ready.
The period cottages in the conservation area around the church and the village green bring narrow doorways, low beams and tight staircases, handled by hand with full protection and dismantled where needed to get them out cleanly. Parking around the green and the older streets is limited, so we confirm the loading position in advance.
Marden is also a commuter village on the Medway Valley line, so a good share of the moves here are families arriving from or heading to London, which we are set up for from the same depot.
Marden sits between Maidstone and the Wealden villages, and most moves here connect to the wider area. See our main Maidstone removals page for the town, and Staplehurst removals and Headcorn removals for the neighbouring villages. We also cover the surrounding villages including Yalding, Collier Street and Paddock Wood from the same depot. For the full list of areas, see our areas we cover page.
Yes. We cover the village itself and the surrounding lanes and hamlets, including toward Collier Street, Yalding and Staplehurst. For properties set back along narrow or unmade lanes we confirm the access route and a turning point at the survey, so the right vehicle turns up on the day.
Yes. Where a full-size van cannot get down a long or unmade driveway, we run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van, or confirm a turning point beforehand. We check the approach at the survey so the right vehicles are booked.
Yes. Oast conversions and the older cottages around the church and green are a regular part of our work. Round kiln rooms, curved stairs, low beams and tight doorways are handled by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to avoid damage to the piece or the property.
The full range: period cottages, oast conversions, hop-farm and orchard properties, larger detached family homes and modern village-edge builds. The survey is where we establish what specialist handling a particular property needs.
Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. A village cottage and a large farmhouse are different jobs, so we do not publish fixed prices Get a free quote and we will come back with clear, itemised pricing.
As early as you can, ideally four to six weeks, and longer for a larger rural property that also needs a full packing day. Spring and summer are busiest and we are often booked up, so the sooner you are in touch the better. If your sale is still progressing, we can hold a provisional date.
