Moving in Wye: Access and Property
Wye is a period village in the Stour valley below the North Downs, and it packs several access challenges into a small area.
The village centre around Bridge Street and Church Street is a conservation area with narrow lanes, flint and timber-framed cottages, and very limited roadside space. These older homes bring tight doorways, low beams and winding staircases, so pieces are carried by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to get them out cleanly.
The railway level crossing and the narrow bridge over the Great Stour are genuine considerations for a large vehicle. Barrier closures can hold traffic, and the bridge is tight, so we plan the approach and timing at the survey rather than getting caught out on the day.
The rural properties up on the downs, reached by steep single-track lanes toward Hastingleigh, Brook and Crundale, are often beyond a full-size pantechnicon. Where that is the case we run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van, which we confirm before booking the crew.
We settle the vehicle, route, crew and parking plan at the survey stage, so the access is worked out before moving day rather than on it.

Wye is only a few miles from our Wotton Trading Estate base, around 15 minutes via the A28 depending on traffic. We plan an early depot departure so the crew arrives at the agreed time and the day runs to a clear timetable.
Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. A cottage in the village and a large detached home up on the downs are different jobs, so we do not publish fixed prices. Get a free quote and we will come back with clear, itemised pricing.
As early as you can. We are often booked up, particularly on end-of-month and Friday dates, so the sooner you are in touch the more likely we can hold your preferred day. If your date is flexible, mid-week and mid-month slots are easier to secure.
