Packing Services

As a full, partial or fragile-only service, with materials supplied and everything labelled by room, usually the day before your move. This matters more in Yalding’s period and listed properties, where fragile items and awkward access carry more risk.

Why Choose Stranks for Removals in Cranbrook

Four generations of the Strank family have moved Kent households since 1941, and the business is still family run today. The same trained team handles your move from survey to delivery, with no job handed to a subcontractor on the day. Cranbrook is a well-established route for our crews, and the substantial period homes the town is known for are well within our capacity.

On credentials: Stranks holds full British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, including the BAR Advanced Payment scheme, and is certified to BS EN 12522, the British Standard for furniture removal services for private individuals. BS EN 12522 audits process, training and vehicles, and few independent Kent removers carry it. We are also Checkatrade certified and a member of the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman scheme, with a 9.7 out of 10 rating across 380 verified reviews.

We are based in Ashford, not Cranbrook. That is deliberately honest: you get a full-depot operation coming to you, not a one-van outfit.

Moving in Cranbrook: Access and Property

Cranbrook is a small Wealden market town, the old capital of the cloth trade, and its historic core shapes a lot of the moves here.

The High Street and Stone Street are lined with listed timber-framed and white weatherboarded weavers’ cottages, many right on the street with no off-road parking and protected as listed buildings. These older homes bring low beams, uneven floors and tight, winding staircases, so pieces are carried by hand with full protection and larger items are dismantled where needed. Parking in the centre, near the Union Windmill and the church, is limited, so we plan the loading position and any suspension in advance.

The outlying farmhouses and larger homes, out along the lanes toward Sissinghurst, Goudhurst and Benenden, often sit at the end of narrow Weald lanes or long private drives that a full-size pantechnicon cannot manage. Where that is the case we confirm a turning point or run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van.

The Weald lanes themselves are among the narrowest in Kent, with tight gateways and few passing places, so we survey the approach and choose the vehicle accordingly rather than discovering a problem on the day.

We settle the vehicle, route, crew and parking plan at the survey, so the access is worked out before moving day rather than on it.

How a Move with Stranks Works

  • Free survey by video call or in person, assessing volume, access and any specialist items. Narrow-lane access and gateway widths are noted here.
  • Written quote with clear, itemised pricing, confirmed before any commitment.
  • Packing day if booked, usually the day before your removal.
  • Moving day: the crew arrives at the agreed time, loads under protective blankets and webbing, and drives to your new address.
  • Delivery and placement, room by room, with furniture reassembled where dismantled.

Cranbrook and the Wider Weald

Cranbrook sits in the heart of the Weald, and most moves here connect to the wider area. See our Tenterden removals page for the neighbouring town, and Staplehurst removals for the village to the north. We also cover the surrounding villages including Sissinghurst, Goudhurst, Benenden and Frittenden from the same depot. For the full list of areas, see our areas we cover page.

Proud to be one of the most highly recommended removals companies in the UK

This is the third time over the years that we have used Stranks. David quoted, advised and liaised with us from the start to guide us through the process. This move itself was annoyingly prolonged due to a long key wait. We got the keys and access at 4pm in the end. At every stage of the move, Shane, Dan, Armond, John and then the other two (Joe? and another colleague) were professional, friendly and extremely hard working. They even kept their efforts up when they found that we had only gone and bought a town house! The boxes destined for 'bed 1' were like the hot potatoes that no-one wanted to end up with! Still, everything got moved to the right rooms without an issue. We wanted to review and pass on our thanks to those that made a long moving experience, so much more bearable. We would totally recommend Stranks to anyone in need of removal services.

I’d give 10 stars to the team that helped us relocate from Kent to Cornwall. They were competent, capable, professional, accommodating, friendly and very easy to work with. I hope not to have to make such a move again but I wouldn’t hesitate in using Stranks and highly recommend their services. They helped make our move a stress free experience and worth every penny we spent and more.

Long established family business, they listen to what you need and if at all possible oblige. Sensible rates and knowledgeable caring workers. Happy to advise on the best way to get your needs sorted even recommending local man and van companies if the job is really too small for them.

FAQs

Yes. We cover the town itself and the surrounding villages and lanes, including Sissinghurst, Goudhurst, Benenden and Frittenden. For properties set back along narrow lanes we confirm the access route and a turning point at the survey, so the right vehicle turns up on the day.

The old town streets and the surrounding lanes are tight, with limited parking and few passing places. We plan the loading position and any parking suspension in advance for central addresses, and where a full-size van cannot reach a rural door we run a smaller shuttle vehicle from a safe pull-in nearby. It is all worked out at the survey.

Yes. The listed timber-framed and weatherboarded cottages are a regular part of our work. Low beams, uneven floors and winding staircases are handled by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to avoid damage to the piece or the property.

Yes. Fragile-only packing is available as a standalone option alongside full and partial packing. We use double-walled boxes, purpose-made crates, tissue and foam lining for artwork, mirrors and antiques. With so many period and character homes around Cranbrook, this is a routine part of our local work.

Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. A town-centre cottage and a large farmhouse are different jobs, so we do not publish fixed prices. Get a free quote and we will come back with clear, itemised pricing.

As early as you can, ideally four to six weeks, and longer for a larger rural property that also needs a full packing day. Spring, early autumn and month-end dates are busiest, and we are often booked up, so the sooner you are in touch the better. If your sale is still progressing, we can hold a provisional date.
