Our Headcorn Removals Service

House Removals

Across Headcorn, from timber-framed cottages on the High Street to larger detached and barn-conversion homes out in the surrounding Weald. Our crew packs, protects, loads and delivers, room by room.

Packing Services

As a full, partial or fragile-only service, with materials supplied and everything labelled by room, usually the day before your move. This matters more in Headcorn’s period and listed properties, where fragile items and awkward access carry more risk.

Why Choose Stranks for Removals in Headcorn

Headcorn is a commuter village at heart. The mainline station puts London within reach, which is why so many of the moves here are families coming out from the city into a larger Weald home, or long-standing residents moving on within the village. Either way, the properties tend to be bigger and the moves more involved than the search numbers suggest.

Four generations of the Strank family have moved Kent households since 1941, and the business is still family run today. The same trained team handles your move from survey to delivery, with no job handed to a subcontractor on the day.

On credentials: Stranks holds full British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, including the BAR Advanced Payment scheme, and is certified to BS EN 12522, the British Standard for furniture removal services for private individuals. BS EN 12522 audits process, training and vehicles, and few independent Kent removers carry it. We are also Checkatrade certified and a member of the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman scheme, with a 9.7 out of 10 rating across 380 verified reviews.

We are based in Ashford, not Headcorn. That is deliberately honest: you get a full-depot operation a short run away, not a one-van outfit.

Moving in Headcorn: Access and Property

Headcorn packs a lot of different property types into one village, and each brings its own moving job.

The High Street is lined with historic timber-framed Wealden houses, many sitting right on the street with no off-road parking and protected as listed buildings. These older homes bring low beams, uneven floors and narrow, winding staircases, so pieces are carried by hand with full protection and larger items are dismantled where needed. With no setback, we plan the parking position and, where needed, a parking suspension in advance rather than blocking the High Street on the day.

The station area draws steady traffic and parking pressure, and the approach roads can be tight for a large vehicle. We confirm turning space and the loading position at the survey so the move does not snag on a busy morning.

The surrounding hamlets, out toward Grafty Green, Smarden, Frittenden and Ulcombe, sit along single-track Weald lanes and long farm approaches. Where a full-size pantechnicon cannot get down, we confirm a turning point or run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van.

We settle the vehicle, route, crew and parking plan at survey stage, so the access is worked out before moving day rather than on it.

How a Move with Stranks Works

  • Free survey by video call or in person, assessing volume, access and any specialist items.
  • Written quote with clear, itemised pricing, confirmed before any commitment.
  • Packing day if booked, usually the day before your removal.
  • Moving day: the crew arrives at the agreed time, loads under protective blankets and webbing, and drives to your new address.
  • Delivery and placement, room by room, with furniture reassembled where dismantled.

Challock, Charing and the North Downs

Challock sits on the downs between Ashford and Faversham, and most moves here connect to the wider area. See our Charing removals page for the A20 villages to the south, and our main Ashford removals page for the town and depot. We also cover the surrounding downland villages including Molash, Chilham and Eastwell from the same depot.

Proud to be one of the most highly recommended removals companies in the UK

This is the third time over the years that we have used Stranks. David quoted, advised and liaised with us from the start to guide us through the process. This move itself was annoyingly prolonged due to a long key wait. We got the keys and access at 4pm in the end. At every stage of the move, Shane, Dan, Armond, John and then the other two (Joe? and another colleague) were professional, friendly and extremely hard working. They even kept their efforts up when they found that we had only gone and bought a town house! The boxes destined for 'bed 1' were like the hot potatoes that no-one wanted to end up with! Still, everything got moved to the right rooms without an issue. We wanted to review and pass on our thanks to those that made a long moving experience, so much more bearable. We would totally recommend Stranks to anyone in need of removal services.

I’d give 10 stars to the team that helped us relocate from Kent to Cornwall. They were competent, capable, professional, accommodating, friendly and very easy to work with. I hope not to have to make such a move again but I wouldn’t hesitate in using Stranks and highly recommend their services. They helped make our move a stress free experience and worth every penny we spent and more.

Long established family business, they listen to what you need and if at all possible oblige. Sensible rates and knowledgeable caring workers. Happy to advise on the best way to get your needs sorted even recommending local man and van companies if the job is really too small for them.

FAQs

Yes. We cover the village itself and the surrounding hamlets toward Grafty Green, Smarden, Frittenden and Ulcombe. For properties set back along single-track Weald lanes we confirm the access route and a turning point at the survey, so the right vehicle turns up on the day.

Many of the High Street homes are listed and sit right on the street with nowhere to pull in, so we plan the parking position in advance and arrange a parking suspension where one is needed. Inside, low beams, uneven floors and tight staircases are handled by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to get them out cleanly.

It can be. The station area is busy and the approach roads are tight, so we confirm the loading position and turning space at the survey and time the move to avoid the worst of it. Nothing is left to work out on a busy morning.

Headcorn is around 10 miles from our Wotton Trading Estate depot, roughly 25 minutes across the Weald depending on traffic. We plan an early depot departure so the crew arrives at the agreed time and the day runs to a clear timetable.

Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. A High Street cottage and a large detached home in the surrounding Weald are different jobs, so we do not publish fixed prices. Get a free quote and we will come back with clear, itemised pricing.

As early as you can. We are often booked up, particularly on end-of-month and Friday dates, so the sooner you are in touch the more likely we can hold your preferred day. If your date is flexible, mid-week and mid-month slots are easier to secure.
