Moving in Challock: Access and Property
Challock is a dispersed North Downs village, and that shapes every move here.
The settlement is spread out: the green and houses sit around the A251 and A252 crossroads, while the old church stands apart on the edge of Eastwell Park and other homes trail off along the lanes. So the first thing we do is confirm exactly which part of Challock your property is in, because the access differs from one to the next.
The crossroads and main roads carry fast traffic, and loading a large van directly on the A251 or A252 is neither safe nor practical. For properties fronting these roads we position the vehicle off the main carriageway and plan the carry route in advance.
The outlying properties, reached by single-track lanes through and around King’s Wood, often sit at the end of long or wooded approaches that a full-size pantechnicon cannot manage. Where that is the case we confirm a turning point or run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van. Period cottages along these lanes bring low beams and tight staircases, handled by hand with full protection and dismantled where needed.
We settle the vehicle, route, crew and parking plan at survey stage, so the access is worked out before moving day rather than on it.

Yes. Challock is a spread-out village, so we cover the houses around the green and crossroads as well as the properties along the lanes toward King's Wood, Molash and Eastwell. Because the access varies so much across the village, we confirm your exact location and route at the survey.
Yes. Where a full-size van cannot get down a single-track or wooded lane, we run a smaller shuttle vehicle between the property and the main van, or confirm a turning point in advance. We check the approach during the survey so the right vehicles are booked.
The main roads through Challock carry fast traffic, so we do not load a large van on the carriageway. For properties fronting the A251 or A252 we position the vehicle off the main road and plan the carry route beforehand, which we work out at the survey.
Challock is roughly 8 miles from our Wotton Trading Estate depot, around 20 minutes via the A251 depending on traffic. We plan an early depot departure so the crew arrives at the agreed time and the day runs to a clear timetable.
Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. As early as you can. We are often booked up, particularly on end-of-month and Friday dates and through July and August, so the sooner you are in touch the more likely we can hold your preferred day. If your date is flexible, mid-week and mid-month slots are easier to secure.
