Packing Services

Packing as a full, partial or fragile-only service, with materials supplied and everything labelled by room, usually the day before your move. Given how many period and higher-value homes there are in Faversham, careful packing of fragile and antique items is a regular part of our work here.

Why Choose Stranks for Removals in Faversham

Four generations of the Strank family have moved Kent households since 1941, and the business is still family run today. The same trained team handles your move from survey to delivery, with no job handed to a subcontractor on the day. Faversham is a short run down the A251 from our depot, so it is regular work for our crews, and the period and listed homes the town is known for are exactly the kind of move we plan carefully for.

On credentials: Stranks holds full British Association of Removers (BAR) membership, including the BAR Advanced Payment scheme, and is certified to BS EN 12522, the British Standard that audits the survey process, loading plans, vehicle standards and crew training. Many Kent firms hold BAR membership; far fewer hold BS EN 12522. You can verify our BAR membership on the BAR website at bar.co.uk. We are also Checkatrade certified and a member of the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman scheme, with a 9.7 out of 10 rating across 380 verified reviews.

We are based in Ashford, not Faversham. That is deliberately honest: you get a full-depot operation coming to you, not a one-van outfit.

Moving in Faversham: Access and Property

Faversham is a historic market town on the creek, with one of the largest and best-preserved conservation areas in Kent, and that shapes almost every move here.

The medieval town centre, around the Market Place, Abbey Street and Court Street, is lined with listed timber-framed and Georgian houses that sit right on the pavement, with very limited parking and streets that were never built for a large vehicle. Abbey Street in particular is one of the finest medieval streets in the country and needs careful handling. We plan the loading position and any parking permit in advance for these addresses rather than blocking a narrow street on the day.

The listed and period interiors bring low doorways, tight winding staircases, uneven floors and original features that need protecting. These are carried by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to get them out cleanly.

Preston Street and the town-centre core are busy and part-restricted, so timing and the loading point are worth settling before the day. The creekside and quay properties have their own tight access, while the newer homes toward the edges of the town are more straightforward.

We settle the vehicle, route, crew and parking plan at the survey, so the access is worked out before moving day rather than on it.

How a Move with Stranks Works

  • Free survey by video call or in person, assessing volume, access and any specialist items.
  • Written quote with clear, itemised pricing, confirmed before any commitment.
  • Packing day if booked, usually the day before your removal.
  • Moving day: the crew arrives at the agreed time, loads under protective blankets and webbing, and drives to your new address.
  • Delivery and placement, room by room, with furniture reassembled where dismantled.

Faversham and the Canterbury Area

Faversham sits between Canterbury and the Medway side, and most moves here connect to the wider area. See our main Canterbury removals page for the city and its villages, and our Ashford removals page for the town and our depot. We also cover the surrounding area including Whitstable, Sittingbourne and Herne Bay from the same depot. For the full list, see our areas we cover page.

Proud to be one of the most highly recommended removals companies in the UK

This is the third time over the years that we have used Stranks. David quoted, advised and liaised with us from the start to guide us through the process. This move itself was annoyingly prolonged due to a long key wait. We got the keys and access at 4pm in the end. At every stage of the move, Shane, Dan, Armond, John and then the other two (Joe? and another colleague) were professional, friendly and extremely hard working. They even kept their efforts up when they found that we had only gone and bought a town house! The boxes destined for 'bed 1' were like the hot potatoes that no-one wanted to end up with! Still, everything got moved to the right rooms without an issue. We wanted to review and pass on our thanks to those that made a long moving experience, so much more bearable. We would totally recommend Stranks to anyone in need of removal services.

I’d give 10 stars to the team that helped us relocate from Kent to Cornwall. They were competent, capable, professional, accommodating, friendly and very easy to work with. I hope not to have to make such a move again but I wouldn’t hesitate in using Stranks and highly recommend their services. They helped make our move a stress free experience and worth every penny we spent and more.

Long established family business, they listen to what you need and if at all possible oblige. Sensible rates and knowledgeable caring workers. Happy to advise on the best way to get your needs sorted even recommending local man and van companies if the job is really too small for them.

FAQs

Yes. The conservation area, including the Market Place, Abbey Street and Court Street, has narrow streets and limited parking, and Abbey Street in particular is a listed medieval street. We confirm the vehicle size, the loading position and any council permit requirements at the survey, so it is planned in advance rather than worked out on the day.

Yes. Faversham's listed timber-framed and Georgian homes are a regular part of our work. Low doorways, winding staircases and original features are handled by hand with full protection, and larger items are dismantled where needed to avoid damage to the piece or the property.

Faversham is around 18 miles from our Wotton Trading Estate depot in Ashford, a short run down the A251. We plan an early depot departure so the crew arrives at the agreed time and the day runs to a clear timetable.

The full range: Georgian and Victorian townhouses and listed buildings in the conservation area, creekside homes, and newer builds toward the edges of the town. The survey is where we establish what specialist handling a particular property needs.

Every move is priced individually on the volume of belongings, the number of rooms, access at both addresses, and the distance. A listed townhouse and a modern family home are different jobs, so we do not publish fixed prices. Get a free quote and we will come back with clear, itemised pricing.

As early as you can, ideally four to six weeks, and longer for a larger or listed property that also needs a full packing day. Month-end and summer dates are busiest, and we are often booked up, so the sooner you are in touch the better. If your sale is still progressing, we can hold a provisional date.
